Frequently Asked Questions

According to the American Association of Orthodontists, it is recommended that children first visit an orthodontist around the age of seven for an initial screening. By this age, most children have several permanent teeth and can be effectively evaluated to spot problems with jaw growth and emerging teeth. Most orthodontic patients begin active treatment between the age of 9 and 14. However, if you want to improve the look and feel of your smile, any age is a good age to see an orthodontist!

Your initial visit/complimentary consultation will consist of a full oral examination and assessment of possible orthodontic issues and treatment options. We may also perform diagnostic tests such as x-rays and digital images that will help us determine your best course of treatment. During this first visit, we will address the following questions that cover the basics of orthodontic treatment:

Since every case is unique and each person’ orthodontic problem requires an individualized plan, treatment time will vary. In general, treatment time is usually anywhere from 8 months to 30 months, with the average time that someone is in braces usually at approximately 18-24 months.

Your appointment schedule will vary depending on your course of treatment and your specific needs. Typically, most patients in braces come into the office for appointments and/or adjustments every 4 to 8 weeks. Dr. Garrison usually likes to see his patients every 6 weeks for braces adjustments and every 4 weeks for clear aligners patients.

Since everyone’s case is different, treatment costs vary for each patient. At your consultation, we’ll provide you with an overview of what you can expect in terms of cost for your particular case, and will discuss payment options with you. We’re committed to making braces affordable for our patients and their families, and have a number of flexible payment plans available, including no interest credit and monthly payment plans. Our office staff will work closely with you to find the payment plan that best meets your needs, and will help you with any issues or questions throughout your treatment.
